EDUCATION AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT IN A GLOBALIZED WORLD

EDUM 7470

This course enables students to examine the complex relationship between education, globalization and social development. Emphasis will be on their interactions both within and between More Developed Countries and Less Developed Countries. The course will also encourage students to consider alternative to the status quo. Specifically, this course aims to: 1) introduce the interconnections between education, social development and globalization; 2) analyze the impact of MDCs on the educational and socio-economic development of LDCs; and 3) encourage students to develop values and actions conducive to a more fair and equitable world.

This course aims to: Familiarize students with issues and approaches in globalization and development; 2) Provide opportunities for students to engage in conceptualizing issues in globalization and development; and 3) enable students to reflect critically about alternative approaches to globalization and development.
