PROF. ALISTAIR COLE

Head & Professor,

Department of Government and International Studies

Research Funding and Focus:

Alistair Cole has a proven record in obtaining research funding, with 6 grants in last ten years (from the ESRC, AHRC, British Academy, the Leverhulme Trust, PALSE-IDEX-ANR and as part of a European Commission Jean Monnet network). Funded projects in the past decade have clustered around questions of trust, transparency, convergence and transfer, each involving conceptualisation in a multi-level and/or transnational context. He will continue to work on these questions that are key to understanding comparative forms of regional integration; intra- and inter-state relationships, civil society and the changing bases of political legitimacy.
